The 2025 U.S. Open of Freestyle Skateboarding

9am - 6pm, June 28th and 29th, 2025 

Registration

Registration is limited to 40 skaters. The fee for early registration is $30usd. Online pre-registration ends on May 30th, 2025. The fee for in-person registration is $40 usd. Click HERE to pre-register.

Divisions

The Pro-Am open division will take place on June 28th, 2025 between 9am And 6pm The Rookies Division will take place on June 29th, 2025 between 10am and 1pm. The Rookies competition is intended to be a mellow introduction to freestyle skateboarding and our vibrant community. 

Format

Each rider will have two 90-second runs. The highest score will be counted. In the event of a tie, the lower scores will be used as a tie breaker.

The Rookies division will include two 45-second runs. 

Surface Size

The competition surface measures approx. 100' x 20'. The surface is kidney shaped with smooth concrete and minimal cracks.

Judging

The U.S. Open of Freestyle uses a judging system based on the Japan Flatland Skateboard Association (JFSA) competition judging system. This system deploys three judges. Each judge is responsible for scoring a different aspect of the skaters' routine, as outlined below.

Technicality
Technicality refers to the level of difficulty required for each trick that the skater lands during their competition run.

Composition
Composition is a skater's preparedness, fluidity, and use of space on the floor during their competition run.
Aesthetics
Aesthetics focuses on a skater's originality, musical harmony, and stability.

*Rookies will be judged using a simplified version of this judging system. 

Divisions

The First Annual U.S. Open of Freestyle will host one Pro-Am division on June 28th. During our jam day on June 29th, we will also host an unofficial Rookies competition

Entry Fee

The pre-registration entry fee for the U.S. Open of Freestyle is $30. This grants competitors access to the park for the day and a goodie bag. The pre-registration entry fee is $40. Goodie bags for in-person registrants will be subject to availability.

Prizes

For the First Annual U.S. Open, prizes will include skateboard decks, wheels, trucks, stickers, bearings, and trophies

Competition routines for the 2025 U.S. Open of Freestyle Skateboarding will be available on YouTube via the Footwork Skate Productions YouTube Channel.

Parking

We recommend parking at 2100 Ocean Front Walk, Venice, CA 90291. This is the closest parking lot to our competition surface with a relatively inexpensive price for all-day parking. We would recommend bringing cash for parking.
